Organizational Growth

Growth can come rapidly for small firms, and slowly for larger ones, but the common element is that successful firms are focused on growing the right key performance indicators.

The client

A struggling northeastern retail chain.

The issue

The New England based retailer had four outlets and a strong local presence, but national brands with powerful web presences had combined to draw away all but its most loyal customers. The sales and profit trends were headed in the wrong direction. How could the chain revitalize its struggling outlets and compete again?

The strategy

After meeting with the firm’s management team, we developed a strategy broadly based on maximizing opportunities through comprehensive online marketing while controlling expenses. We suggested areas where the company could quickly cut costs and invest that money to update their web presence. We also advised that they streamline sluggish backend operations in order to get to market more quickly—an absolutely necessary step for a smaller player in retail today.

The outcome

The numbers speak for themselves—comp sales after our engagement grew 47% while overall growth, thanks to savvy digital marketing, rose 125%.
