The client
A high-ranking executive for a large California software firm.
The issue
Due to talent and energy, the executive had done well in his career so far but felt that his skills could be further honed by coaching on communication skills.
The strategy
We met with the executive for five 1:1 training sessions. During the course of that time, we spoke with him at length and provided him with written and verbal feedback addressing areas where he could improve clarity of message. Equally important, we advised on the important of developing better approaches to assist with listening skills (avoiding temptation to always react) and his ability to project empathy.
The outcome
A few months after the conclusion of the sessions the executive wrote us that he was satisfied with the outcome of our coaching. Having received positive feedback both from his staff and the upper management team to whom he reported it was clear his time spent on addressing a self-identified weakness yielded a significant return on investment.
