Bylaws Revision

From time to time organizations need a refresh. The help of a trained parliamentarian can be useful.

The client

A well-established Northeastern nonprofit organization.

The issue

A leader in their field and long respected for their stellar work, this nonprofit sought a parliamentarian revision officer to help them modernize and update bylaws which had not been revised for more than three decades.

The strategy

Since bylaws are legal documents that function as a kind of operating manual for a nonprofit, one that guides a board’s actions and decision-making process, updating them is crucial to the organization’s orderly functioning. After revising the bylaws, we successfully led the board through a multi step process from initial review to approval with amendments.

The outcome

With its bylaws updated and clarified, the nonprofit was able to focus on once again on its valuable mission.
